At CABSAT 2011 Show Gazprom Space Systems Demonstrated its Intentions to Strengthen on the MENA Market

Gazprom Space Systems (GSS) took part in the 13th CABSAT MENA and the 3rd Satellite MENA exhibition held from February 8 to 10 in Dubai.
This year more than 750 companies from 55 countries participated in the exhibition. This number is 15% higher than in the previous year, which is the evidence that global and regional telecommunication companies see good prospects of this market and focus more attention on it. And, really, for the period up to 2013 there are going to be 19 new satellites on the orbit, which are anyway focused on the Middle East and North Africa.

GSS traditionally participates in this, the 3rd on its importance in the world, event of such type and in the 1st one for the region of the Middle East and North Africa (MENA).

This region is rather essential for GSS’ business: the capacity of the current Yamal satellites is used for communication links arrangement, TV distribution and broadband access services practically in all the countries of MENA, and share of this region in the company’s international sales amounts to about 70%.

At the exhibition Gazprom Space Systems presented the possibilities of its operating Yamal satellites, which are already well-known in this region, and also started a campaign on pre-sailing the capacity of under construction Yamal-300K, Yamal-401 and Yamal-402 satellites to be launched in 2011-2013.

Seeing the prospect of its operator business future development in this promising regional market, on its new satellites GSS provided for the beams to serve this region.

Company’s delegation held fruitful negotiations with the users of satellite capacity, and other satellite operators. Some contracts with the company’s current customers were prolonged and a number of agreements for using new satellites were signed.

In particular, the cooperation between GSS and a well-known company CETel (Germany), one of the leading providers of global communication solutions via satellite, is developing. CETel offers services from its European headquarters with its own teleport facilities in Germany, and its affiliated company in the U.A.E. The company has wide experience and strong positions on the Middle East. Last year CETel was ranked the 3rd in the Fastest Growing Teleport award by WTA. The company is ready to use the current Yamal satellites and expresses interest in GSS’ new satellites capacity
