Gazprom Space Systems Participation in International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2009)

General Designer of Gazprom Space Systems, Corresponding Member of International Academy of Astronautics Nikolay Sevastiyanov presented a paper at a technical session of International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2009), dedicated to fixed and broadband services. In the speech he told about the industrial use of space-based informational services by the example of oil and gas industry, and shared experience and plans of expanding the satellite group of the company.

The 60th International Astronautical Congress (IAC-2009) took place on October 12-16 in Daejeon, Republic of Korea. Every year thousands of scientists from different countries gather to exchange opinions and discuss pressing problems in space explorations. Congress IAC-2009 is organized by International Astronautical Federation and the Korea Aerospace Research Institute. The theme for the 60-th IAC-2009 is: «Space for Sustainable Peace and Progress».

The Congress agenda was busy with plenary meetings and technical sessions. Following the tradition, on the first plenary meeting spoke the Heads of Space Agencies: Anatoly Perminov, Head of Roscosmos;  Charles Bolden, Administrator of NASA; Jean-Jacques Dordain, Director General of European Space Agency; Joo-Jin Lee, President of Korea Aerospace Research Institute; Keiji Tachikawa,President of Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency;  Steve MacLean, President of Canadian Space Agency; G. Madhavan Nair, Chairman of Indian Space Research Organization.

The agenda of plenary events also included the topics: «Space can help within the context of economic crisis », «Civilian Access to Space - Spaceflight for Mankind», «Space Systems to observe and understand Climate Change », «Human Lunar Exploration» and many others.
