Digital multiplex packages of Russian TV channels were uplinked to Yamal-601 satellite
Six packages of first and second multiplexes and 15 channels of regional content were uplinked to the satellite, operating at 49°E orbital slot. In total there were utilized 220 MHz of C-band capacity on Yamal-601 for this purpose.

Yamal-601 control transferred to Gazprom Space Systems
On July 19th, Thales Alenia Space completely transferred control of the Yamal-601 satellite to the operational divisions of Gazprom Space Systems.

International Launch Services announces contract with Gazprom Space Systems for the ILS Proton Launch of Yamal 601
Wednesday, January 22, 2014, RESTON, VA-International Launch Services (ILS) announced the contract for the ILS Proton launch of the Yamal 601 satellite for Gazprom Space Systems (Russia). Gazprom is the parent company of Gazprom Space Systems and is the world’s largest producer of natural gas. The launch of the satellite is scheduled for 2016.

Thales Alenia Space to build Yamal-601 satellite for Gazprom Space Systems
Moscow, January 22, 2014 – Thales Alenia Space announced today that it has signed a contract with Russian operator Gazprom Space Systems (GSS) to build the Yamal-601 telecommunications satellite, which will provide fixed communications, broadcast and Internet access services. Thales Alenia Space won the contract from Gazprom in competitive international bidding.
