AfricaCom 2016: Gazprom Space Systems is expanding business on the African continent

Annual Exhibition and Conference AfricaCom in Cape Town (South Africa) closed on 17 November. The biggest African telecommunication forum brought together more than 375 exhibitors and 10000 visitors this time

Annual Exhibition and Conference AfricaCom in Cape Town (South Africa) closed on 17 November. The biggest African telecommunication forum brought together more than 375 exhibitors and 10000 visitors this time.

The exposition of Gazprom Space Systems was focused primarily on the promotion of Southern and steerable beams of Yamal-402 satellite. The beams have a good coverage for Sub-Sahara Africa. The European beam of the satellite is designed for organization of communication channels and broadcast services from Europe to Africa and for the Middle East.

The exhibition stand of Gazprom Space Systems attracted great attention of the African business community and government institutions of Sub-Sahara region. For instance, the GSS booth was visited by Hon. Supa C. Mandiwanzira, Minister of Information Communication Technology, Postal & Courier Services of Zimbabwe. Gazprom Space Systems prolonged the largest contract with Telemedia, a reputed TV services provider in South Africa. The capacity of Yamal-402 Southern beam came into use for distance education and internet connection in Ghana. Other satellites of Gazprom Space Systems orbital constellation also were of interest for potential customers.

The signed contracts and agreements, achieved at the Cape Town exhibition are further expanding Gazprom Space Systems business on the african market.
