Dmitry Sevastiyanov Speaks at SATRUS-2010 Conference
September 22, in the framework of the 15th Annual Conference and Exhibition of Operators and Users of the Russian Federation Satellite Telecommunications Network SATRUS-2010 Dmitry Sevastiyanov, Gazprom Space Systems (GSS) Director General, presented a report about Yamal Satellite Communications System development.
In his speech Dmitry Sevastiyanov reported about the status of work on Yamal satellites constellation replenishment and expansion and the ground infrastructure development.
The participants of the conference knew about the progress of construction and technical performances of Yamal-300K satellite to be launched to the orbit in November 2011.
Also Dmitry Sevastiyanov said that the Yamal-400 project really started in May 2010. All production contracts and also deals on attracting and securing credit funds were signed and obtained necessary corporate approvals. The company got the first loan trenches and transferred the advances to the contractors. Yamal-401 and Yamal-402 satellites will be launched to the orbit in 2012-2013.
The launch of the new powerful Yamal-300K, Yamal-401 and Yamal-402 satellites will increase Gazprom Space Systems’ orbital capacity by four times and provide good conditions to develop for the company’s current and future customers.
Moreover, in the report there was information about the construction progress of the new up-to-date Telecommunication Center of the company in Schelkovo, Moscow region, where one of the oldest company’s teleport and the current satellites’ Mission Control Center were already moved. The control of the new satellites, NOC, teleport ground stations dedicated to operating GSS’ growing orbital constellation – all these will be concentrated in the Center.
The annual SATRUS conference is a remarkable event in the Russian satellite telecommunication sector. Traditionally the executives of the Ministry of Communications and Mass Media, the Federal Communications Agency, the Russian and international satellite operators, networks operators, telecommunication equipment producers, system integrators, investment and insurance companies, advisers and industry experts, media companies, representatives of large consumers took part in the conference.
