Gazprom Space Systems (GSS) successfully exhibited at the largest African Telecom, Media, and Technology Event - Africacom-2019 taking place on November 12-14 in Cape Town (Republic of South Africa).

Within the forum, GSS’s team promoted the Yamal satellite capacity for service provision in African and Middle Eastern countries.

GSS operates on the African telecommunications market since 2013 after the launch of Yamal-402. The satellite was put into 55˚E orbital slot. Customers can operate both within the African footprint (the Southern beam) and use the interbeam connection between Europe and Africa. Despite strong competition on the African market, the capacity of Yamal-402 is in a great demand. The satellite is often involved to provide services to enterprises, government entities and population, as well as for live broadcasting of political, cultural and sports events in African countries.

GSS has got into the Middle Eastern market even earlier. The first agreement on provision of Yamal-202 C-band capacity was concluded back in 2004.

Taking into account the higher power budget of new Yamal-601 having replaced Yamal-202 this year, Gazprom Space Systems anticipates sales growth in the Middle East.

Within Africacom 2019 the booth of Gazprom Space Systems was visited by company’s customers, partners and policy makers.

There were prolonged and expended current contracts with satellite capacity customers, established new opportunities and reached new agreements with potential customers.
